This is the second smartphone of Idea that we are reviewing after the Idea Id-280 handset. Like the Id-280, Idea is also offering another 3G handset with some bundled offer. This handset, which is called Idea Blade, is available in the market for Rs 7,992 with benefits worth Rs 3,500 that users get in terms of services like 3G internet connectivity from Idea.

However, it is the quality of smartphone and not the bundled offers that you should look for before buying a smartphone. Here is a detailed review of the Idea Blade and lets find out whether it has the mettle to keep you busy on 3G or send you to the heaven with Abhishek Bachchan!




It is to be noted here that Chinese multinational, ZTE is manufacturing this handset while Idea is marketing it under its own brand. Also, please note that ZTE is a very well known company and is selling telecom equipment to Indian telecom operators as well. It is also the same handset that is available in the market as Dell XCD 35.

Boost Mobile's first 4G phone: the HTC Evo Design 4G,

The company, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sprint, follows another one of Sprint's brands, Virgin Mobile, with a WiMax-ready phone launch. 

Boost Mobile is getting into the 4G mix with the launch of the HTC Evo Design 4G.

The smartphone, which will launch on May 31, comes with a 4-inch qHD, or 960x540-pixel resolution, touch screen and Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). In addition, the handset boasts a 1.2GHz processor, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera to complement its 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, and Wi-Fi hot-spot functionality.

The big news of the day, however, is that the smartphone will become the first 4G-ready device to hit Boost Mobile's service by operating on Sprint's 4G (WiMax) network. According to Boost Mobile, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sprint, the Evo Design 4G will be able to connect to Sprint's WiMax in 71 markets and achieve average speeds of 3Mbps to 6Mbps

Boost's announcement comes the same day Virgin Mobile announced its own first 4G-equipped device, the HTC Evo V 4G. That handset, like its Boost counterpart, will connect to Sprint's WiMax network.

The HTC Evo Design 4G will set customers back $299.99, when it launches at the end of the month. Customers that pick up the device can sign up for Boost's Monthly Unlimited plan with Shrinking Payments. That offering starts out at $55 per month, but for every six months of on-time payments, Boost reduces the fee by $5. It sets the floor price at $40 per month.

Indonesian Blackberry Addicts Look to Close the App Gap,

 JAKARTA – As Research in Motion unveils a new operating system, Indonesia’s Blackberry addicts have high hopes for high-powered applications aimed specifically at them.

With the Canadian company struggling to maintain its market share in the U.S. and Europe, its smart phones continue to top the sales charts in Indonesia, where more than 10 million users love their instant messaging, email and Internet surfing capabilities.

More than 100 Indonesians were at Blackberry World and Blackberry 10 Jam in Orlando, Florida last week for the unveiling of the new Blackberry 10 operating system as well as the software tools used to develop applications for the Blackberry phones and tablets which will start using the system later this year.

“Many developers in Indonesia have already committed to BlackBerry 10 which means that end-users both in Indonesia and throughout the world will enjoy an amazingly powerful and content-rich experience on the new platform,” said Hastings Singh, managing director of South Asia for RIM said.

There are already a lot of applications for those addicted to crackberry from Ambon to Banda Aceh – search “Indonesia” in Blackberry App World and it says there are 73 apps, 3 games and 17 themes connected somehow to the country. However, Indonesian users need more if the Canadian company expects them to stay loyal and not stray to iPhone and Android phones like so many in the West have.

There is already a brilliant application to order and track Bluebird Taxis, but for the many Indonesians that can afford a phone but not a regular chauffeured cab, how about an application that can call and track your friendly neighborhood Ojek, or motorcycle taxi? Better yet, for all those Jakartans that have neck pains from staring up the bus lane, praying for a TransJarkarta Bus to arrive, someone should develop an application to let bus riders know how long it will be until the next bus arrives.

For those that can afford their own wheels, an application to monitor traffic, suggests one Blackberry user. For users on motorcycles the traffic map could include how crowded the sidewalks are because the city’s daily flood of traffic usually spreads to the foot paths.

“I need an application that will give me more memory,” says Blackberry addict Rahmahwati Maulani who sends so many Twitter, Facebook, Blackberry Messenger and Whatsapp updates and messages everyday that here phone often freezes.

Indonesian shoppers could use a new application that uses global positioning to help them calculate which credit card to use to buy lunch at the mall. With almost every restaurant and café backing different cards with different promotions – sometimes 20% off, sometimes a free dessert or two for one drinks – it can be tough to choose for Indonesian card sharps who often carry five or more cards around to take advantage of all the perks.

For those that like to shop in the teaming towers of Manga Dua where floors and floors of hundreds of closet-sized booths peddle everything from shoes to baby strollers, a searchable map to track down that impossible to find store your friend recommended would be helpful.

How about a location based bribe charting application? Every time your local law enforcement officer or bureaucrat had his or her hand out for a traffic violation or an athletes’ village contract, the application could be used to anonymously record how much money was paid for what in each spot. If the Corruption Eradication Commission can’t use the information to catch what they call “corruptors,” than at least the average citizen will know the going rate.

Telefonica App Offers Apple IPhone Users Free Calls,




 Telefonica SA (TEF), Spain’s dominant telecommunications company, is offering a free mobile communications application for users of Apple Inc. (AAPL)’s iPhone as it tries to stop customers switching to cheaper rivals.

The TU Me app allows free calls and stores data for users online. It will be offered worldwide to users of Apple’s iOS software from today at no cost regardless of the phone operator, Telefonica Digital Chief Commercial Officer Stephen Shurrock said in an interview. The TU Me app will offer communication services including text messages, calls, sharing photos and voice-mail, he said.

Phone companies such as Deutsche Telekom AG (DTE), Vodafone Group Plc and Madrid-based Telefonica are struggling to adapt as customers increasingly use calling software such as Skype or the WhatsApp messaging technology on smartphones. Telefonica is also losing market share and suffering from declining profitability as clients switch to cheaper rivals including Jazztel Plc. (JAZ)

“We certainly see ways to monetize this app with a business model along the lines of Skype,” Shurrock said, declining to say how much revenue it could generate or how many customers may attract this year.

Microsoft Corp.’s Skype is the world’s most popular Internet-calling service, enabling free voice calls over the Web.
Digital Unit

Telefonica fell 0.7 percent to 11.11 euros at 9:15 a.m. in Madrid trading, valuing the company at 50.7 billion euros ($66 billion). Spain’s benchmark IBEX 35 Index dropped 0.8 percent.

TU Me is available for download from the Apple App Store and a version for phones using Google Inc. (GOOG)’s Android will be available in coming weeks, Shurrock said. With TU Me, data is kept online in the so-called cloud, and “interactions are stored in a timeline format, making it easy to view, scroll through and keep a history of conversations,” the company said in a statement.

Last September, Telefonica created a digital unit, with offices in London, Silicon Valley, Tel Aviv, Sao Paulo and Madrid, in order to pull together digital assets including Jajah, the Mountain View, California-based Internet-phone company acquired in 2010.
